This is the Fall-Winter 2012-13 issue of the bi-annual newsletter of the University Libraries at Western Kentucky University. This issue introduces the new Dean of WKU Libraries Connie Foster; a new Library System Office; a new service of iPad lending; and the on-going project of The Commons at Cravens, a brand new one-stop library service point where patrons can check out library materials and get professional help from the librarians and trained tech people in the same place. This issue features several award recipients, namely, the SOKY Book Fest, which has received Commendation from the KY School Media Association; Jim and Darlene Johnson, long-time supporters of the WKU Libraries, who have received the State Library Award from the KY Library Association; and George Ella Lyon and Lynne Avril, who have won the 2012 Evelyn Thurman Young Readers Book Award. Another highlight of this issue is the reception that the WKU Libraries have given in honor of WKU's art students who have created and installed their creative works of art in the Helm and Cravens Library. Attached to this issue is the Libraries 2012 Annual Report.

In this biannual publication of the WKU Libraries' newsletter, the traveling Lincoln exhibit is featured, and so are the 6th annual Christmas in Kentucky event, the SOKY Reads!, the new We've Been Everywhere program geared towards WKU employees themselves, and the Evelyn Thurman award, which is given to katie Pickard Fawcett. A special feature of this issue is the Libraries 2011 annual report.

This is the Spring-Summer 2012 issue of the bi-annual WKU Libraries newsletter Collections & Connections. This issue features the 2012 Southern Kentucky Book Fest and its related events such as the Kentucky Writers Conference. Feature stories also include the opening ceremony of the Elizabethtown/Radcliff/Ft. Knox Library, the Far Away Places and Kentucky Live talk series, the new art installation in the Helm and Cravens Library, the US Bank Art Show, the Java City noon concerts, and the Richardson Quilt Gallery Opening. In this issue, the WKU College Faculty Award and the WKU Library and University Experience Undergraduate Research Award recipients are also reported. Last but not the least is the news of a retiree from the WKU Libraries.

This issue of WKU Libraries' biannual publication features the Libraries' events that happened in the latter part of 2010 and early part of 2011, including the Kentucky Literacy Week, SOKY Book Fest, the Kentucky Writers Conference, the literary partnership with OCLC, and the US Bank Art Show. It also reports achievements made by the Libraries such as milestone publication efforts made by TopSCHOLAR, the Libraries' reception of the NEH grant for Alcott events as well as professional achievements of the Libraries' faculty and staff. Events of the Kentucky Museum and the Main Library are also highlighted.
