Abstract

Finding aid and full text scans (Click on "Additional Files" below) for Manuscripts Small Collecction 193. Two letters related to the Rowan-Chambers duel fought in Bardstown, Kentucky, 3 February 1801. Letter from Dan Barry, Bardstown, 6 February 1801, indicates that Rowan's friends have scheduled a meeting to show their support of him. Letter from John Rowan, 19 April 1801, to William Lytle, his brother-in-law, provides his detailed version of the events surrounding his duel with Chambers.
