Abstract

Finding aid and full-text (click on Additional File below) for Manuscripts Small Collection 2483. Letter of W. H. Smith, written from Bowling Green, Kentucky, to his brother Joseph Smith in Warrenton, Virginia. Smith mentions an upcoming Whig festival to celebrate the Battle of the Thames, recounts the various illnesses of family members, and discusses his acquisition of a slave. He also comments on their mother's distress at the prospect of a slave being whipped.
