Abstract

Finding aid only for Manuscripts Small Collection 609. Papers relating to Martine (Calhoun) Thornberry’s position as postmaster at Livermore, McLean County, Kentucky; papers relating to the duties as postmaster and to keeping the position when a change in political parties occurred in 1954. Also some references to her work as a teacher on Indian reservations, 1927-1938, 1947-1950, and as the first woman from Kentucky to become a Marine officer, 1943-1945, 1954.
