William James Porter (1914-1988) served as US ambassador to Algeria (1962-1964), South Vietnam (1965-1967) and South Korea (1967-1971). Richard Nixon appointed him to replace David Bruce at the 1973 Paris Peace Accords to end the Vietnam Conflict.
