Description

Swan [5 pounds, paper corn meal bag] produced by the Winn & Tobin Milling Company in Marion, Kentucky. This taupe colored bag features a polychromatic image of a swan. Flours were often named after pure white objects, and a swan certainly qualifies. The SWAN name directly below the image is a 1930s font. "Bolted white" means that meal from white corn is ground and sifted so that its crude fiber content is less than 1.2% but its fat content is not less than 2.25%. The bag was manufactured by the Werthan Bag Company of Nashville, Tennessee.
