Finding aid only for Manuscripts Small Collection 2892. Letter, 7 January 1862, of Private Thomas C. Corwin, Battery B, 1st Ohio Light Artillery, to his sister in Michigan. Writing from camp at Somerset, Kentucky, he reflects on the war’s duration and describes camp life, troop positions around Somerset, and local citizens’ fear of a coming battle. He also describes skirmishes with Confederate pickets and his hopes for an advance though Kentucky.
