This is a postcard of the James F. Leonard tombstone from Frankfort, Kentucky.
James Francis Leonard born at Frankfort, Ky. September 8, 1834. Died at Columbus, Miss., July 29, 1862 Aged 27 years, 10 months and 21 days. Called home by the grand chief operator to work the eternal circuit above.
The monument features a hand operating a telegraph machine. He is said to have been the first telegrapher to read by sound. The monument is ten feet high with the design of a telegraph pole in each corner with telegraph lines running across from pole to pole.
