Alice Chumbley, 1961 Miss Kentucky of Jamestown.
Alice is now well acquainted with Kentucky. She spent the summer motoring from one county fair to another crowning many queens – perhaps a future Miss Kentucky.
Included in the honor of representing her state was a trip to New York for a week of combined business and pleasure. Many hours were spent with photographers, but there was also time for shopping, for a Broadway production, and for a two-day sightseeing tour of the city.
As Kentucky’s representative in the Miss America pageant, Alice journeyed on to Atlantic City for the memorable week of September 8-12 – five full days with hardly a moment to spare.
Exhausted but rich in the knowledge of experience, Alice returned to Western and the life of a college student.
