Description

Jacqueline Beck was the first African-American Woman to be hired at Western Kentucky University as a faculty member. She was born on July 19, 1931 in Gulfport Mississippi. Jacqueline was hired at WKU and assigned to the Department of Nursing in 1966. She was specifically an Associate Professor and she taught medical-surgical and pediatric nursing. Beck's education consists of a B.S. degree from Dillard University in 1955. She also received her M.S. degree from Indiana State University in 1958. Before Beck was hired at WKU she served as a member of the Department of Nursing faculty at Florida A&M University.
