Description

Malcolm Arnett linocut, Across the Tracks, ed. 4/50. Composition includes a large house in the middle and smaller structures and trees in the background. The artist's signature, edition number and title of this artwork are written across and underneath the image.

Note: In "Landmarks: 40 Years of Prints from 40 Years of Printmaking," this artist fondly recalls participating in the Saturday watercolor class when the students would go on sketching trips. This print was the result of a pencil sketch made during a trip to Missouri City, "... Of all the pictures in this book, this one best demonstrates the linoleum cut medium. It is freely cut. There is a black against white and white against black, five kinds of lines and hatch have been used to suggest tone, and the stylized trees are in agreement with other parts of the composition."
