Framed picture commemorating the platinum status of "Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz" by the hip hop group, Nappy Roots. The composition includes a reproduction of the album cover, a compact disc, a silver disc representing the album, and photos of the six members of the group. These items are superimposed over a blow up of the album cover art. A metal plaque bearing the inscription "PRESENTED TO WESTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY TO COMMEMORATE RIAA CERTIFIED PLATINUM SALES OF MORE THAN 1,000,0000 COPIES OF THE ATLANTIC RECORDS ALBUM, CASSETTE AND CD "WATERMELON, CHICKEN & GRITZ" is affixed to the composition. "NAPPY ROOTS" and two black roosters are stencilled on the inside of the plexiglass across the top of the piece while "WATERMELON CHICKEN & GRITZ" is stencilled across the bottom.
