Commemorative plate from the Exposition Universelle de 1867 held in Paris from April 1 to November 3, 1867. Black and white transferware plate featuring a comic scene of a couple looking at an emaciated horse. The caption reads:

No. 8 / A La bonne heure voila un animal qui annonce une santé vigour use et des bifteks bien tendres" which roughly translates as "In the right time voila an animal which announces health, vigor, use and well-tender steaks" is printed below it.

The rim of the plate is decorated in a ribbon and floral design. The plate was manufactured by Leboeuf, Milliet & Company.
