This resolution, signed by WKU President Gary Ransdell on March 19, 2011 at approximately 8:30 a.m., made Western Kentucky University the fourth institution in the United States to be designated as fair trade. See "WKU named fair trade university at conference" article by Joanna Williams, College Heights Herald, for additional coverage.

The resolution represents a year-long effort, led by WKU's chapter of Americans for Informed Democracy (AID), co-founded by Matt Vaughan and Charlie Harris and Fair Trade WKU, further enhancing the University's visibility as a Leading American University with International Reach.
