Abstract
Finding aid, scans and typescripts (Click on "Additional Files" below) for Manuscripts Small Collection 2574. Letters, 26 October and 1 November 1844, of George W. Williams, New Albany, Indiana, to his wife Winnifred Williams, Paris, Kentucky. He describes the injury and subsequent death of her brother Charles Henry Webb, and the injuries and deaths of other family members, from an explosion aboard the steamboat Lucy Walker on the Ohio River near New Albany. Includes a 1952 letter of a descendant providing family information and relating details of the disaster as told to her by an aunt.
