Abstract

Finding aid only for Manuscripts Small Collection 819. Facsimile of letter, 22 September 1814, written by Robert Fulton, New York, to Governor Isaac Shelby, Frankfort, Kentucky, requesting militia or volunteers to assist in the removal of the steamboat Vesuvius from a sandbar 200 miles below the mouth of the Ohio River. He also expresses fear of an Indian attack.
