Abstract

Finding aid and scans (Click on "Additional Files" below) for Manuscripts Small Collection 3016. Letter of David Campbell, Bowling Green, Kentucky, to Samuel Davidson, Vandalia, Illinois, 2 February 1822. Obliged to pay the Postmaster General's accounts in silver coin, Campbell, the postmaster at Bowling Green, blames a shortage of available currency for his failure to repay a debt to Davidson's brother and discusses other forms of payment. Includes a 1982 letter explaining how Campbell's letter was discovered.
