Lavinia Hunter (Feb. 9, 1894-Dec. 7, 1973) a native of Gastonia, North Carolina, taught 1st grade at the Training School for 35 years. She began in 1931 and retired in 1965 with a perfect attendance record. She received an AB from Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1915 and a MA from George Peabody in 1931. Prior to moving to Bowling Green she served as first grade teacher in Gastonia from 1923 to 1931. [WKU Press Release]
Photograph collection compiled by Lavinia Hunter during her time working at the Training School. Consists mainly of student portraits of first graders. Also included are some classroom photos and other teachers.
