Abstract
The purpose of this teaching and learning resource is to provide a process for developing academic and meta-cognitive skills in students as they engage meaningfully in literature analysis and practice deploying generative artificial intelligence (genAI) effectively and responsibly. Additionally, while gaining critical AI literacy, students will develop the skills needed to advance their critical thinking and avoid overreliance on generative AI. This resource is unique in the specificity of its activities, which promote a healthy perspective on how genAI can be used in the early stages of learning about a topic. It also helps students practice the skills needed to contribute their own value, discernment, and insights to the project development process. This resource is intended for instructors of lower-division courses in a kinesiology program. Depending on students' preparation, some elements may also be useful for upper-division courses. These skills can be supported through out-of-class activities and further developed in online, in-person, or hybrid courses over several weeks.
