TRAINING PROGRESSIONS (AND REGRESSIONS) TO ENHANCE SELF-EFFICACY IN CLIENTS
Abstract
Not every client can squat, push-up, or hold a plank safely and effectively in their initial training stages. When we recognize and meet clients where they are and set our sights on small wins that build mastery experiences, we set them up for success. This hands-on presentation will review the elements of self-efficacy in the context of successful exercise programming before putting these concepts into action. Demonstrations of simple movement screening and exercise selection to promote self-efficacy will be introduced, with an opportunity for guided practice. By the end of this session, participants will have a toolbox of exercise progressions with the knowledge of how to implement them.
