Abstract

Finding aid only for Manuscripts Small Collection 3018. Letter, 14 November 1844, of Elijah Hise, Russellville, Kentucky, addressed to John M. McCalla, Lexington, Kentucky. After giving details of a debt collected on behalf of the recipient, Hise requests that McCalla, a fellow Democrat, be informed of his delight at the election of James K. Polk to the presidency. He lists eight of the issues at stake in the election that he believes have been resolved by the victory.
