Abstract

This creative project is concerned with the story of a college student who interns at a courthouse in her hometown for the summer. She comes into the job having certain expectations about what role she will play and how the justice system itself should work. As the story progresses, she comes to realize that the system and the people working within it are not meeting the expectations she had at the beginning of her job, and she manages to upset many of the local people by being persistent about a particular case she is working on throughout the story. In the end, she finds herself wondering whether or not she wants to continue working in such an environment, and comes to a decision. The story addresses both positive and negative aspects of the justice system as part of the main character’s story.
