Counseling Concepts and Applications for Student Affairs Professionals (CNS 577)
Abstract
Involvement of parents and guardians for students entering college has seen a shift with the millennial students and generation Z. Often they do not know how to best help their students as they transition into this unknown world. By providing pertinent information to parents and guardians about how to assist their students during the application and FAFSA process, during orientation, moving onto campus, and once classes have started, they then may feel as though they are also being included in the transition, and there is often more open lines of communication and trust between themselves, their student, and the higher education institution.
