Counseling Concepts and Applications for Student Affairs Professionals (CNS 577)
Abstract
This project defines stress for struggling college students, identifies negative coping mechanisms for stress, and illustrates techniques for coping with stress in a positive manner. It specifically focuses on the consequences for participating in negative coping skills such as an over consumption of caffeine, consuming alcohol in excess, and procrastination while also highlighting the benefits of a variety of positive strategies. The project concludes by differentiating between stress and anxiety in order to prepare students to seek professional help if needed.
