Abstract

Finding aid only for Folklife Archives Project 1209. Student paper titled “Household Appliances” in which Kathy Seal interviews her uncle, Edward Derringer, about his collection of unusual household items. The pieces, which were obtained through bartering, are arranged by “Kitchen Appliances,” “Kitchen Utensils,” “Cleaning Utensils,” and “Miscellaneous.” Seal emphasizes that the purpose of her paper is to draw attention to the appearance of the appliances rather than their functions. The paper, then, is made up entirely of hand-drawn illustrations of each object.
