  • Local officials attend workshop
    • On February 20, 1973, a workshop for “Beginners in Community Education” was held at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana
    • Representing Bowling Green was F. O. Moxley, Bowling Green Independent School District, Charlie Campbell, Warren County Schools, and Karen Curtis, Model City Agency
    • The present status of the Bowling Green Community Education Program included the appointment of the following citizens to the Community Education Board: Joel Rodgers-Bowling Green-Warren County Chamber of Commerce Charles Heyduck-Bowling Green Independent School District, F. O. Moxley-Citizens Participation Council of the Model City Agency, James Shanahan-City Hall, Charles Hardcastle-Fiscal Court of Warren County
  • Agency cutbacks causing changes
    • Because of the anticipated cut in the local Model Cities budget and to further streamline the local operation, sevel personnel changes have been made according to O.A. Moses, acting executive director
    • Roman Emde has been named Assistant Director in Charge of Evaluation and Planning and liaison to the Citizens Participations Council
    • Joe Denning, formerly C-P Liaison, will work in the areas of Crime and Delinquency and Recreation
    • Richard Rector will serve in the Housing and Physical Improvements and Employment
    • Karen Durbin will be working in the Education areas and Health and Social Services
    • Terry Given, formerly human resources coordinator for the local agency, and has been appointed director of the Youth Bureau
    • Jim Embry resigned the post
  • Funding for work-release, first-offender plans set
    • The work release portion of the programs has been in operation locally since December
    • It permits selected inmates to leave the jail on a daily basis to work at a regular job, returning to the jail each night
  • Pediatric clinic stats impressive
    • Dr. Earl B. Williams, one of the participating physicians, more than half of those using the clinics are from the Model Neighborhood Area
  • Students become seedling planters
