Finding aid only for Manuscripts Small Collection 2208. Letters (1851-1946) of the Thomas and Stiles families of Nelson County and McLean County, Kentucky. They write of family news, illnesses and deaths, farm matters and local Civil War-related incidents, including guerrilla activity and the emancipation of their slaves. Includes a deed of gift for slaves. Also includes transcriptions of the documents by John B. Thomas, Jr. with notes, annotations, maps, and other background information relating to the content and writers of the letters.
