Abstract

Finding aid and scan (Click on "additional files" below) For Manuscripts Small Collection 204. Photograph of marriage bond issued to John M. Clemens and Jane Lampton, 6 May 1823, in Adair County, Kentucky. John M. Clemens and Jane Lampton Clemens were the parents of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, known by his pen name, Mark Twain. Also included is a letter from Ruth Burdette to Elizabeth Coombs, 2 September 1951, related to the bond photograph.
