Abstract

Finding aid only for Manuscripts Small Collection 282. Photostat of letter, 3 November 1822, written by Lewis Dillard, editor of The Backwoodsman, Bowling Green, Kentucky, to U.S. Secretary of State John Q. Adams soliciting an appointment as a public printer of Kentucky. Dillard objects to other patronage appointments and contrasts his paper favorably with the (Russellville, Kentucky) Weekly Messenger. Original in National Archives.
