He describes the injury and subsequent death of her brother Charles Henry Webb, and the injuries and deaths of other family members, from an explosion aboard the steamboat Lucy Walker on the Ohio River near New Albany. Includes a 1952 typescript letter of a descendant providing family information and relating details of the disaster as told to her by an aunt.
