Abstract

Finding aid and scan (Click on "Additional Files" below) for Manuscripts Small Collection 990. Form letter, 24 August 1936, distributed by the Montjoy Fair Trial Committee of Covington, Kentucky, regarding the case of John “Pete” Montjoy. The Committee claims that his trial was “farcical” and requests that the public urge Governor Chandler to commute the death sentence by hanging. Includes excerpt from George C. Wright, Racial Violence in Kentucky 1865-1940 concerning the trial.
