Abstract

Finding aid only for Manuscripts Small Collection 3109. “Kentucky Mountain Square Dancing,” by Patrick E. Napier, Burgin, Kentucky. This monograph (52 pp.) provides a brief historical background and describes the elements of square dancing including steps, dress, music and caller. Also included are terms and definitions, and descriptions (with diagrams) of many square dances commonly found in eastern Kentucky.
