Uncommon Wealth of Kentucky

In the summer of 2017, WKU’s Department of Library Special Collections planned to collect information from south central Kentuckians about the Great Eclipse that took place on 21 August 2017 for a project called “Tell Us About Your Eclipse Day.” Immediately after the eclipse, the Department issued a call via social media, e-mail, and press releases asking individuals to provide eclipse-related information, photos, ephemera and artifacts for posterity’s sake. The photographs in this gallery document the response to that project. Items that were donated included photographs, viewing glasses, first day stamp covers, artwork, stickers, poetry, and narratives about the experience.
