This informational site was constructed from the research and findings of Dr. Albert Petersen, Jr. Petersen was a geographer and professor at Western Kentucky University who donated this research to the Department of Library Special Collections in 2001. This collection includes data collected between 1970 and 2001 (though some additional information has been added since 2001). The information deals with historic vernacular architecture and structures across about 50 counties in Kentucky. The research conducted by Dr. Petersen and his students is presented in the collection through Historic Resources Inventory Forms, National Register of Historic Places nomination forms, slides and negatives of the structures, and research notes. The Albert Petersen Collection provides a glimpse into local history and architecture, and this site intends to present some of that history for Allen and Monroe counties. This online site was completed by Brookelyn Smith, the 2017 Dr. Delroy & Patricia Hire Special Collections Intern.
