Description

Opened in March 1935, "Norman's -- The Store All Women Know" was a fixture of the Warren County shopping scene for more than fifty years. The Bowling Green store carried a complete line of dresses, suits, coats, millinery, blouses, sweaters, neckwear, footwear, hose and bags, gloves, lingerie, etc., for "juniors, misses, women and stouts."

Ely Norman of Nashville opened Norman's Store on March 22, 1935 with $3,000 in cash. The local newspaper described the new store as "brightly colorful and yet restful" where "nothing . . . for the convenience and comfort of the customer has been omitted."
