Description

Composite of images taken by Bill Strode at the celebration of E.A. Diddle's 1,000th game. He was the first to coach 1,000 games at a single college. During the halftime of the WKU - New Mexico State basketball game the cheerleaders wheeled in a little red wagon containing 1,000 silver dollars. Big Six Henderson is seen congratulating Diddle with a trophy. He also gave Diddle a check for $235 saying, "We only wanted $1,000 and we tried to stop it there but we couldn't." Coach Diddle received two standing ovations. The coach is seen with WKU president Kelly Thompson in the lower right photograph covering his face with his red towel. WKU went on to defeat New Mexico State 71 to 67.
