Abstract
This collection of poems reflects on elements of the speaker’s life in the American South, focusing on the intersection of feminine experience, cycles of growth and decay, faith, and selfperception. Investigating the complex relationship between place, culture, and selfhood, the collection also explores the intricacies of interpersonal relationships, often employing nature symbols and religious iconography to reinforce ideas of impermanence and hope. The collection uses layered imagery, fractured narratives, and a combination of traditional and free verse forms to explore themes of agency, the nature of loss and resilience, and the natural world.
