Abstract
This collection of fiction short stories explores varying mother-son relationships, illuminates underlining spiritual and emotional complexities which characterize the biological bond and exposes the metaphysical challenges which surface when a son transforms into a man. The stories draw from the author’s experiences growing in Ethiopia, and years spent in the U.S. as an adult. However, the stories present fictional contexts and circumstances and are written as pieces of meditation on the mystical relationship between a mother and a son. In particular, the stories closely contemplate on the lifelong impact a mother’s influence can have on a son’s psychological memory.
