Description
Virginia (Ellis) Garrett, wife of WKU's second president Paul Garrett dies. She was born in 1899 and married Dr. Garrett in 1921. The couple had three children, Ryland, Thornton and Paul. Mrs. Garrett served as president of the Faculty Wives Club during her husband's tenure as president of the college. After his death she took on the landscaping of WKU campus along with Elizabeth Wood and Mitchell Leichhardt. The Virginia Garrett Courtyard between Southwest and Northeast Halls is named for her.
