Description

Tilden Dodson House. This house is located .7 mile W of US 231 on route 1332, the S .5 mile in the vicinity of Halfway (Allen Springs Quad). It was built in 1863 by a magistrate named Tilden Dodson, after he inherited a fortune. At one time, Dodson owned as many as five farms in Allen County. Another magistrate named Thomas William Smith lived here as well, and added the rear in 1905. This house is an excellent example of I house architecture, which was typical of upper middle class families of this area.
