Annie Fellows Johnston ephemera and photographs
During her long career, popular children's author Annie Fellows Johnston found her fan mail could be quite demanding. Requests for photographs or books for charities or individuals and potential plots and characters flooded her mailbox. Mrs. Johnston often resorted to printed notes and images to manage her correspondence.
As Kate Matthews photographs which were based on the Little Colonel novels became more popular, postcards became collectible. Many children documented their pilgrimages to Pewee Valley, Kentucky, known as Lloydsboro Valley in the Little Colonel series, with snapshot photographs.
