August 13 - Fiery Klan Crosses Flare Forth on Normal Heights & Reservoir – First real evidence of the existence of KKK in Bowling Green is noted Saturday night [Aug. 11, 1923] – burning two large crosses, one in Reservoir Park and the other on Normal Heights. Flames burst from the cross on the Reservoir exactly at 9:05. Two minutes later persons, who happened to glance in the vicinity of Normal Heights saw the fiery cross there. . . . The same program was carried out on Normal Heights, where the party is said to have been considerably larger than that in Reservoir Park.
