Sanders’ tendency to “go for the jugular” often provoked strong reactions among readers. “You’ve caused hordes of people to throw up,” “The more I see your vile cartoons the more I wonder why you just don’t leave the country if you constantly disagree with the majority,” and “Resident Mad Dog Artist” –are some of the colorful yet still printable opinions of his critics. He was not without his supporters as well however. “You said it like it is … you have taken a public stand on the issues, and that takes courage.”
