History of Civil War Generals collectible booklets included in packs of Duke’s Cigarettes (1888)

Albert Sidney Johnston, 1803-1862 born in Washington, Kentucky lived mostly in Texas. Attended West Point with Jefferson Davis, he served in several American campaigns in the west prior to the Civil War. Johnston resigned his commission and became commander of the Confederacy’s Western Department. He was mortally wounded at the Battle of Shiloh on April 6, 1862.
