Description
Alice Gatewood Waddel was the first African-American woman to be crowned homecoming queen at Western Kentucky University in 1972. While at WKU, she was also involved in Black Student Union, a member of Delta Sigma Theta, and is now the Bowling Green Human Rights Commission Executive Director. Waddel is currently involved with WKU’s alumni association as well as being one of the first members of the Society of African-American Alumni at WKU.
