Description

"Maine Farmyard" by Malcolm Arnett, ed. 20/35. Composition includes a mailbox in the foreground, farm house and several outbuildings in the middle ground, and a tree in the background. Black ink on ivory paper. The title is written below the lower left corner of the image.

Note: The subject of this block print is identified in "Landmarks: 40 Prints from 40 Years of Printmaking" as the house at the entrance to the Newry Mine in Maine. The authors noted that the, "... house is typical of the Maine country dwelling where the living quarters is connected to a woodshed which in turn leads to the barn. Thus, the farmer need not brave the extreme cold to care for his livestock."
