Description
College Heights Herald report of reception held in honor of Miss Kentucky, Nancy Cox.
Although it was sweltering in the Kentucky Building courtyard last Friday, about 30 people wearing long-sleeved shirts, suits, or fancy dresses, gathered to gaze upon a woman who didn’t even appear to be sweating.
She was Nancy Cox, the new Miss Kentucky and a Western graduate.
When drinking punch, she didn’t even leave lipstick on the crystal glass.
In spite of her unruffled appearance, Cox’s road to the title wasn’t easy.
She had entered the Miss Kentucky pageant three times before, in 1987 and 1988, each time walking away with only a top ten finalist position. Then in 1989, she came in as the 4th runner up.
Cox, who transferred from Campbellsville College, graduated summa cum laude with a degree in English and allied language arts education. She won her title shortly after her graduation in May.
This Saturday Cox will be leaving for the Miss America pageant, which runs from September 4 – 8, in Atlantic City, N.J.
