Created in 1965 as Government & Sociology. Renamed Sociology & Anthropology in 1968. In 1977 the Social Work Program was created within the department of Sociology & Anthropology.

In July 1981 Sociology, Anthropology & Social Work moved to Potter College of Arts & Humanities when the College of Applied Arts & Health was closed and departments dispersed.

In August 1994 Social Work was merged with the Ogden College department of Allied Health. The name was changed to Allied Health & Human Services.

In 2001 the College of Health & Human Services was created and Social Work was moved out of Ogden College into the new college.
