Description

Model 1850 Foot Officer's sword with Phrygian helmet pommel, handle wrapped in fish skin and wire, and a 21 1/2" long fuller starting at the top of the blade and running down towards the point. "U.S.", sprays of flowers, and a shield are engraved on one side of the blade and an eagle, a U.S. flag and sprays of flowers on the other.

Carried by Colonel John Hobson Grider, 52nd Kentucky Infantry (U.S.A.), and 9th Kentucky Infantry (U.S.A.)
