Photograph of three soldiers, two crouching and one standing, as well as five boys, most of whom are holding chickens. The soldier crouching in the center of the photograph has a bird perched on his shoulder and a rodent, perhaps a possum, at his feet. A military encampment of tents is behind the group. This is one of a number of photographs collected by Frank M. Thomas when he served as Chaplain for the Third Kentucky Infantry U.S.V. in Cuba.
